09.01 IPDSC Annual General Meeting 2008


Dear Colleagues,

I am required to advise you by January 15th 2008 of the intention to hold an Annual General Meeting of the Council in 2008. In this regard please note the following;
As you were advised, due to the complexities and delay of opening the bank account in Switzerland and problems of compliance by all applicants to the statutory requirements by the due date, it was proposed by the Presidium and presented to the applicants for membership that all applicants be accepted as Provisional Members for the remainder of 2007 and 2008 for the fee of 300 Swiss francs. No objections being received to the contrary this policy was adopted.
Consequently, we do not have voting members until a proposed Presidium Meeting later this month can assess and award Associate and Full Memberships entitling members to vote at any proposed AGM.
Whilst this is not to the letter of the Statutes it reflects a decision of the Presidium, accepted by the applicants in good faith, within the spirit of the statutes to only accept proper and suitable members as full voting members.
Both Verena Sulek the Treasurer and Lasse Odegaard, Presidium Member with responsibilities for Membership, have worked tirelessly over the past months to insure that the methods and practice adopted in this vital matter are entirely correct.
Once we have a body of voting members the Presidium will advise the full date and location of the AGM, giving the due prior notification required under the statutes.
For the sake of the record, take notice that the date of December 1st 2008 is scheduled for the 2008 IPDSC AGM, in Zurich, Switzerland.
Please note; exact location to be informed after consultation and at least four months prior to the proposed date.
This date insures that all the complex formalities that have to be concluded by the Council are complete and correct in order to present members with a full and complete picture of the great progress that has been made by IPDSC thus far.
Upon election to the Council as Full Members applicants will be required to pay the balance of the full membership fee; an additional 300 Swiss Francs.
I am sure, colleagues, you will be extremely pleased with the progress of the IPDSC when presented to you at the AGM and ask for your patience and consideration whilst we deal with the very large task of the start up phase of this major international undertaking.
